Outline:

Introduction of the POC project

General introduction

Goals of POC:

-develop a structured vocabulary for plant anatomical entities and plant growth and developmental stages (the PO)

-develop an infrastructure to support plant comparative genomics (PO plus associations)

-community outreach to encourage contributions of annotations for more species (Phenote, web-based annotation tool in development for future)

Changes to the PO in the past year

Expansion to include all plants:

-more general definitions of upper-level terms

-new taxon-specific terms: examples from Musa or potato

New upper-level structure for PSO

Progress toward Obo-Foundry compliance:

-complete "is_a" hierarchy

-computer-readable definitions in genus-differentia form

(Brief) Overview of the POC website

-Homepage and links from there

-PO wiki

Using the ontology browser

-searching

-browsing

-accessing annotations

Requesting new terms

-link to SVN through PO homepage

-register and sign in before submitting!

-how to view old tracker items

Downloading the PO files
